A former South Australian police officer will spend at least nine months behind bars after she was found guilty of concealing her boyfriend's $40 million drug syndicate and allowing him to grow cannabis in her apartment.
Senior constable Amanda Boughen, 41, created a fake tenant for her investment property so her boyfriend could use the property in the hills north of Adelaide to grow cannabis.
Between May and September 2007 Boughen, who was then a respected police officer and mother, went to great lengths to create a identity for made up tenant 'Nicole Hooper' – including buying a car, mobile phone and a fake email address, according to ABC News.
She pleaded guilty to one count of fabricating, altering or concealing evidence.
Although Boughen admitted to creating the false tenant, she denied any knowledge of the cannabis her boyfriend was growing at her investment property.
