In six months, New Yorkers suffering with life-threatening medical conditions, will be able to walk into dispensaries and buy non-smokeable versions of medical marijuana. Only five companies will be licensed by the state to grow and sell medical marijuana. Each company selected will be allowed to open up four dispensaries. 43 companies are vying for a spot.

Ultimately, that decision is up to the state. An official tells NewsChannel 9 that that decision could come as early as next week.
