Colorado has backed off a plan to require edible marijuana products to come with a stop-sign stamp.
State marijuana regulators released an updated proposal this week detailing the state’s upcoming requirement that pot-infused cookies, brownies and other foods have a distinct look when outside the packaging.
The Marijuana Enforcement Division originally proposed a red octagon marking with the letters THC inside. The updated proposal makes the octagon an inverted square, still with the letters THC inside to indicate the drug’s psychoactive ingredient. The stamp on the actual product does not have to be red.
Manufacturers complained that a stop-sign shape implied that the products are dangerous and shouldn’t be consumed.
The revised proposal goes for a public hearing next week, which will be Aug. 31 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Old Supreme Court Chambers at the state Capitol. The rule takes...
