Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is not pleased with drive-through marijuana dispensaries

In addition to dozens of medical marijuana dispensaries lining busy areas and major thoroughfares in Detroit, at least three dispensaries now offer drive-through service, according to a Detroit Free Press investigation.

That’s got Mayor Mike Duggan concerned, as reported by USA Today.

As City Council gets ready to debate medical marijuana industry regulations next week, Mayor Duggan is stressing a sense of urgency about medical marijuana spiraling out of control in Detroit.

Duggan wants to pass restrictive zoning to control how closely dispensaries can be located to schools, churches, adult entertainment establishments and neighborhoods.

Medical marijuana proponents warn such regulations that single out drive-through marijuana service from any other drugstore drive-through service could have a chilling effect on a budding industry — an industry that could bring desperately needed jobs and tax revenue to Detroit, as per USA Today.
