Three arrested over plantation at their home

The National Police have dismantled a secret crop of marijuana in Orihuela, which had 375 plants, and arrested three men accused of a public health offence and electricity fraud.

The operation started when an off duty officer noticed two people violently tampering with the lock on the door of a house. When he asked what was going on, he noticed they seemed nervous considering one of them claimed to live there.

The police went about checking who owned the property and then noticed there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside and so applied for a search warrant.

Inside they found 375 plants taking up two floors of the house, with a sophisticated cultivation system that included halogen lamps, ventilation, air conditioning and irrigation.
