Marijuana disrupts TechCrunch Disrupt SF

The biggest winner to emerge from the 2015 TechCrunch Disrupt SF battlefield is pot.

Two companies working closely with the legal marijuana industry took the event’s Disrupt Cup as well as Runner-Up awards on Wednesday,the Upstart Business Journalreports.

Brooklyn-based company Agrilystwon the Disrupt Cup in the end for a service that helps greenhouse operators grow more efficiently through precise data gathered from sensors set up throughout the indoor grow area itself.

“Indoor growers have to worry about each and every growing condition because controlling those growing conditions means being able to control your profits,” said co-founder Allison Kopf in her finals pitch.

The Runner-Up award was given to San Jose’s Green Bits, which provides a point of sale service specifically geared for cannabis retailers that can track product inventory and make sure shops keep running legally by meeting requirements such as seed-to-sale tracking.
