Pueblo teen shot over marijuana
PUEBLO -
Pueblo police say a teen was shot for trying to steal marijuana from a home on the Lower Westside early Friday.
Vincent Duran, 55, was arrested for shooting the 17-year-old, who told police he climbed over Duran's fence to take marijuana from an illegal grow in his backyard.
It is a case that is eerily similar to a 2014 incident in which a 13-year-old was shot in the chest with a pellet gun for climbing into a man's backyard for his marijuana. This time, however, police say the 17-year-old and another unknown individual trespassed on a property in the 1600 block of W 13th Street, and the juvenile was shot in the right leg with a real gun.
Police say Duran should not have taken the shot. "Most people are thinking of the 'make my day' law," says Sgt. Eric Gonzales, "and that's only if an intruder is coming...
