Ohio marijuana legalization ballot issue would pass if election held today, Kent State poll finds

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio's marijuana legalization issue and a conflicting measure would both pass if the election were held today, according to an independent poll released Tuesday.

A Kent State University poll, commissioned by WKYC in Cleveland, found 56 percent of Ohio voters planned to vote "yes" on Issue 3, which would legalize recreational and medical marijuana, and 54 percent planned to vote for Issue 2, which would make it more difficult to write monopolies and other business rights into the Ohio Constitution and directly challenge Issue 3.

The questions were framed using the word "monopoly," which Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted chose to describe the issues in language that appears on ballots.
