DEA raids three homes and two businesses for synthetic marijuana

LAREDO, TEXAS (KGNS) - The Drug Enforcement Administration raided homes and businesses in Laredo Thursday morning, all to send a message to people selling synthetic marijuana.

It didn't just happen here Thursday morning, but also in cities all around the country.

Called operation synergy three.

I was there as they executed those search warrants.

The agency is collecting evidence, and aiming for the top of the synthetic drug distribution network.

As the sun came up, agents from the DEA moved quickly.

Partnering with other agencies, they hit three homes and two businesses in Laredo. With one thing in common.

"K2, spice, sometimes it's referred to as synthetic marijuana", said Reed.

Across the country, coordinated raids this morning lead to 151 arrests in 16 different states.

Synthetic marijuana is seen as a cheap, accessible substitute to natural marijuana.
