Accelerator seeking $2.9M to open San Francisco office
Marijuana accelerator Canopy Boulder is currently recruiting for its spring class of cannabis startups, including the first-ever class for its yet-to-be-opened San Francisco office.
Started in Boulder in March, Canopy had barely welcomed its first crop of "potrepreneurs" before announcing it would seek $5 million for a San Fran outpost.
That goal has since been refined to $2.9 million, and the firm is about 60 percent of the way there. It expects to close the funding round within 60 days, said Canopy managing director Micah Tapman.
"Hopefully we can open the doors in January or February at the latest," said Tapman, who is heading to California on Thursday to review potential spaces.
The spring classes in both locations will commence in March. An early acceptance deadline is set for Nov. 30, with a Dec. 31 final deadline. Selections
