Peak Harvest Health and Frostburg State University Join Forces to Advance Ethnobotanical Research Opportunities

Peak Harvest Health (PHH), a Maryland-based medical cannabis manufacturing company, today announced that it will be partnering with Frostburg State University (FSU) to explore ethnobotanical research opportunities and workforce development in Western Maryland. The partnership will potentially provide employment for graduates of the university’s ethnobotany, biology and chemistry programs.

“FSU has the only ethnobotany major in the U.S., as well as an extensive program focusing on understanding the medicinal value of plants,” said Ethan Ruby, CEO of PHH. “By working together, we hope to educate the next generation of scientists and provide job opportunities for them in Western Maryland, while also benefiting from the medicinal plant research done by the university.”

PHH also agreed to underwrite initial funding of a research incubator called the Appalachian Cannabis Research Cooperative (ACRC). The ACRC would provide universities around the region with the opportunity to experiment, to the extent possible...
