Colorado law firm warns immigrants coming to Colorado for the state’s marijuana industry that they could be placing themselves at large financial and legal risk

One of the oldest and largest immigration law firms in the Rocky Mountain West says it’s seeing a growing number of immigrants coming to Colorado to take part in the state’s so-called “green rush” of legal marijuana businesses, only to have their hopes of financial success quickly dashed and their futures in the United States put at risk.

Attorneys at Denver-based Lau and Choi, P.C. say many immigrants are flocking to Colorado because of rumors that they can legally grow 99 marijuana plants there.

“We’re concerned that there’s a lot of rumors and misinformation among immigrants, particularly in the Chinese community, regarding the legality of marijuana in Colorado,” says Charles “Mac” McIntyre IV, a Mandarin-fluent attorney at Lau & Choi.
