Cannabis Compliance Inc. ("CCI"), a Toronto-based compliance consulting firm, is pleased to announce the acquisition of NHP Consulting Inc. ("NHP"), a regulatory compliance firm dedicated to servicing the health products, cosmetic, food, and medical device industries. The transaction will result in a merge of the two businesses, incorporating the staff at NHP into the larger CCI family.

Since 2004, NHP has gained a strong leadership position in Canada, having filed over 60,000 licence applications with various Health Canada departments. Historically, NHP has earned a strong reputation for its natural health product licensing services in Canada. Given the timeframe of the federal government's mandate to legalize finished products over the next several years, CCI views this as a tremendous opportunity to bring these skills into the cannabis sector.

The new framework for finished products in Canada will include cannabis natural health products, cannabis cosmetics, cannabis food products (i.e. edibles) and cannabis medical devices. Cannabis producers desiring to manufacture such products will be required to achieve a secondary licence for their facility from another Health Canada department, and every SKU will be required to achieve a product licence based on evidence of safety, quality and efficacy. With NHP coming into the CCI family, CCI will continue to maintain a strong leadership position in the larger "health products" industry that now includes cannabis.

The majority of CCI's client base have expressed a strong interest in achieving a facility licence for manufacturing cannabis finished products, and through this acquisition CCI will be the strongest compliance solution provider in the industry to do so.

"We are very excited to bring these two companies together under one roof" says Brian Wagner, CEO of Cannabis Compliance Inc. "The two companies have co-operated for many years, and our broader reach into different regulated sectors will bring tremendous value to our combined health product and cannabis clients."

"With Health Canada poised to start licensing cannabis and cannabinoids as ingredients in edibles, cosmetics, and natural health products, there simply isn't a better time to unite NHP and CCI" adds Brenna Boonstra, President of NHP Consulting Inc. "The combined expertise of these two teams is unparalled."

NHP Consulting will continue serving the health products, cosmetic, medical device, pharmaceutical and food industries where no cannabis is present. Joining forces with CCI, the internal resources for NHP and CCI will be combined to provide the most benefit to all industry segments moving forward.
