Set up In anticipation of the upcoming legalization of adult-use cannabis in Canada, High Park Farms is the new name for the former Enniskillen Pepper Co. purchased by Tilray last year.
The company hosted public officials at a ribbon cutting last week, showcasing the operation and outlining the various brands it expects to offer through approved sites, once federal legislation permitting its sale is enacted.
One of those attending was Enniskillen Township Mayor Kevin Marriott.
“As Mayor of Enniskillen I want to extend a very warm welcome to High Park Farms as our newest and largest employer in the municipality. We look forward to the contribution they will add to our long history of a diverse agriculture-based economy.”
High Park Farms says it will invest up to $30 million in the venture, including $10 million in a new facility in nearby London, which will process and distribute the cannabis products.
The company also announced a $15,000 donation to the Enniskillen Education Scholarship Fund to help promote post-secondary education in the region.
Brendan Kennedy, Tilray’s CEO, said the addition of the High Park operation will bring the total investment in Canda to more than $100 million and grow its Canadian workforce to more than 500 people.
The business community, represented by Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce CEO Shirley de Silva, also welcomed the company to the area.
“This is an exciting time not only for High Park Farms but for the local Enniskillen economy as well,” said de Silva.
High Park officials say the company has secured exclusive rights to produce and distribute a broad-based portfolio of adult-use cannabis brands and products in Canada, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
High Park, which is based in Toronto, will also develop new brands over time.
Tilray and affiliates currently own and operate a medical cannabis cultivation and processing facility in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The $30 million facility will continue to serve the medical cannabis market in Canada and internationally.
