Beloved Vancouverite Seth Rogen launched a new brand of Canadian recreational cannabis called Houseplant on Wednesday, March 27.
The Pineapple Express star founded the Toronto-based brand with screenwriter Evan Goldberg in collaboration with Canopy Growth, a global cannabis and hemp company. The company launches after years of work designing a product that will, “make it easier for people to learn to love cannabis as much as Houseplant does.”
“Houseplant is a passion we’ve brought to life through drive and dedication,” said Seth Rogen, Co-Founder of Houseplant. “Every decision we’ve made for the business reflects the years of education, first-hand experience and respect we have for cannabis.”
“We are so proud to be launching in Canada, our home,” said Evan Goldberg, Co-Founder of Houseplant. “After spending five years diligently preparing for the launch of this company, we’re excited to be able to share our passion for cannabis with Canadians in this way.”
The company plans to launch three strains over the coming months – Houseplant Sativa, Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica. Further, Houseplant states that each strain will have an identifiable design in order to facilitate an intuitive shopping and consuming experience.
Houseplant Sativa will be on the market in early April 2019 through provincially regulated retailers and online in British Columbia. Following this, the Houseplant Hybrid and Houseplant Indica strains along with softgels and pre-rolled joints will become available throughout the year.
Canopy Growth has operations in 12 countries across five continents and offers distinct brands and curated cannabis varieties in dried, oil and Softgel capsule forms. Further, the company operates ten licensed cannabis production sites with over 4.3 million square feet of production capacity.
“We have been getting to know the Houseplant team for quite a while now and continue to be impressed by their understanding of the cannabis consumer, attention to detail, and drive towards their vision,” said Mark Zekulin, President and Co-CEO of Canopy Growth.
“We could not be more excited to partner with them and work towards our shared goal of making Houseplant one of the largest cannabis brands in the world.”
After Houseplant launches in B.C. they plan to expand across the rest of Canada in the coming months.
