After recreational marijuana was legalized in Canada last year, licensed producers in the country have been busy seeking international opportunities to utilize their existing infrastructure and distribution knowledge.

To that end, The Green Organic Dutchman Holdings Ltd. (TSX: TGOD; US OTCMCKTS: TGODF) just announced a second Jamaican retail store will open on May 4, 2019 in tourist destination Montego Bay.

The cannabis store is opening in conjunction with Epican Medicinals, with The Green Organic Dutchman currently holding a 49% interest in the company. This second retail site will be located in Montego Bay’s famous “hip strip” of shopping centers which sees frequent travel from cruise ship tourists.

Last year, Epican Medicinals opened a first retail site named Epican’s Herb House in Jamaica’s capital of Kingston.

After receiving the secondary license necessary to open the new site from Jamaica’s Cannabis Licensing Authority, Epican and The Green Organic Dutchman are currently planning three additional store openings in the near future.

The Green Organic Dutchman’s Chief Executive Officer Brian Athaide issued this statement about the new retail location:

Epican’s Montego Bay store is a bright and well-designed space ideally located to serve local and visiting patients with locally produced premium organic cannabis. Our Kingston location witnessed increasing sales volumes; setting the stage for the grand opening of an Epican Herb House in Jamaica’s largest tourist hub.

Aside from the retail store locations, Epican was the first company in Jamaica to receive a cultivation license, and is currently expanding a greenhouse facility for producing cannabis products to be distributed internationally.

Jaimaca is only one prong of The Green Organic Dutchman’s current international strategy, as the company’s Polish subsidiary HemPolandwas recently granted organic certification. The company’s products and cultivation site were awarded that certification last week from the Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Back on the Canadian side of operations, the company began officially selling organic medical cannabis to patients who are members of The Growers Circle back in March through an exclusive website and app combo.

The Green Organic Dutchman is also currently working on a large scale construction project for greenhouse in the Ancaster community of Hamilton, Ontario.
