Nova Scotians are loving their second-wave cannabis products — so much so that they’re getting nearly impossible to find at licensed stores across the province.

Beverly Ware, spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC), told NEWS 97.5 on Friday that edibles, in particular, are flying off the shelves. The demand for the recently available products has been high, to the point where “almost all” of the Crown corporation’s store locations have treats like cannabis-infused chocolates and gummies in short supply, Ware said.

The sole stand-alone pot shop in the province, which is located on Clyde Street in Halifax (the other stores are combined with liquor outlets), has been sold out of pot-spiked chews and chocolates since early last week.

NSLC stores received a relatively small order of chocolates, chews, teas and liquid vapes and cartridges last Monday, but while many stores still have some stock remaining of the latter three products, the corporation is not expecting any new shipments of second-wave products until sometime in early 2020.

Nova Scotia was one of the first provinces to stock its shops with edibles when the 60-day waiting period for second-wave products such as edibles, beverages, liquid vapes and cartridges, and topicals expired mid-December.

Residents of some other provinces, including Ontario, Quebec and Alberta, will have to wait until after the holidays to sample the new regulated products.

Any Nova Scotians hoping to ring in a tasty, cannabis-infused New Year should hustle to pick up their treats while options — albeit limited ones — are still available. Otherwise, they’ll have to use standard consumption methods like smoking or vaping for a NYE high — or, more drastically, learn to cook.
