Cannabis has been legal for over a year now. But edibles, topicals and extracts are fresh on the market. So why not ring in the new year with the best of them?

Alberta Cannabis is the province’s only legal online store for recreational cannabis. Here’s a selected variety of prerolls, flowers, oils and softgels, some rich in CBD or THC, or some simply a funky hybrid for you to choose from!

Check out the official website of Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) for more options.

This strain has roots in Afghanistan, and contains 17-27 per cent THC (also known as Tetrahydrocannabinol, a component of the cannabis plant that gets users high) and very little CBD (cannabidiol, the non-impairing, anti-inflammatory cannabis compound).

This indica-dominant strain is guaranteed to sweep you off your feet!

Aurora’s Aces hybrid comes in vegan-friendly papers.

With 12-20 per cent THC and less than one per cent CBD, Aurora’s Aces hybrid is game for a good high. It comes in vegan-friendly papers made from sustainable sources (yay for the environment!) and is a mix of some of their most popular strains.

Flowers

Great North CBD by Canaca Select

Enjoy a fruity hybrid bud with Vertical’s Blissberry! A strain that stems from the popular Shishkaberry (an indica strain with a berry scent and about 17 per cent THC), these flowers are grown in Ontario. They have an earthy, citrus scent and 9-15 per cent THC, and very little CBD.

Oils

1:0 THC Oil by Namaste

30ml for $76.49

Oils and extracts have different properties than dried cannabis, and should be taken with caution.

With 28.6 mg/L of THC and 0.07 mg/L of CBD, this oil is the equivalent of 7 g of dried cannabis. It can be taken sublingually (under the tongue), or added to food and smoothies. Alberta Cannabis does note that oils and extracts have different properties than dried cannabis, and should be taken with caution, and urges users to ‘start low and go slow.’

The oil can be taken orally or with food.

This bottle is the equivalent of 5 g of dried cannabis, and contains 19.5-20.5 mg/ml of CBD trace amounts of THC. Because of the low amounts of THC, there won’t be much of a high, but the CBD should be just what you need if you want to kick back and relax. It can be taken orally or with food.

The site notes this strain is good for unwinding and may make you a little sleepy.
