COVID-19: Seth Rogen also answers premier's call for help
There’s a development in the comic book-like saga that is Horgan’s Heroes.
Comedian Seth Rogen tweeted Saturday a lighthearted message to B.C., urging people not to gather in large groups and instead stay home and “smoke weed.”
Rogen’s tweet follows another funny message to B.C.’s youth from Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds on Friday, asking them not to “kill his mom.”
On Saturday, Rogen wrote:
“People of British Columbia! Please do not go out to parties and BBQs and other large gatherings! The COVID is still out there! It’s more fun to hang out alone and smoke weed and watch movies and TV shows anyway! Do that instead! Thank you!”
The messages are in response to Premier John Horgan’s callout to Rogen and Reynolds, two celebrities originally from B.C., for help to stop the province’s youth from gathering in large parties and spreading the COVID-19 virus.
On Friday, Reynolds responded to Horgan on social media, saying: “Called your office. Left a message,” with a funny audio message, saying he isn’t going to offer any medical advice but urging the province’s youth to be careful so people don’t die.
“Yeah, young people in B.C. are partying, which is of course dangerous and they probably don’t know that thousands of young people are not just getting sick from coronavirus but they are also dying from it, too,” Reynolds said in the audio message.

He said B.C. is home to “some of the coolest older people on Earth,” like David Suzuki and his mom.
“She doesn’t want to be cooped up in her apartment all day. She wants to be out cruising Kitsilano Beach looking for some thirtysomething Abercrombie burnout to go full Mrs. Robinson on,” he joked.
He added: “I hope young people in B.C. don’t kill my mom frankly. Or David Suzuki. Or each other. Let’s not kill anyone.”
Horgan thanked Reynolds for the message Friday afternoon.
“You with your mom jokes, me with my dad jokes, just trying to keep people safe,” the premier said in a tweet.
Shortly after, Seth Rogen joined the chat with a tweet responding to both men. “Just slid into your DMs!” he said.
On Wednesday, Horgan called on the pair to use their influence to encourage younger people to take safety precautions against COVID-19.
“This is a call-out to Deadpool right now. Ryan, we need your help up here. Get in touch with us, my number’s on the internet,” Horgan said. “Seth Rogen, another outstanding British Columbian. We need to communicate with people who aren’t hearing us. The two of you alone could help us in that regard.”
