Five new cannabis drinks to hit the shelves in Canada

The much-hyped cannabis beverages, part of the cannabis 2.0 offerings that began to trickle out last December, have been harder to track down than anticipated. Producers have encountered various delays and the beverages often disappear quickly from the shelves as curious consumers look to take a swig for the first time.

But now the beverage space is set to get a bit more crowded in the months ahead. Truss Beverage Co., a joint venture between producer Hexo Corp. and Molson Coors Canada, has announced five new drinks that are, finally, coming to market.

The mix of CBD and THC-infused drinks contain low doses of cannabis, ranging from 2.5mg to 5mg, and are produced in Belleville. The drinks include Little Victory, a sparkling beverage, House of Terpenes, a range of tonics with botanically sourced terpenes, Mollo, described as crisp with an easy drinking taste, Veryvell, a line of health-focused drinks, and XMG, described as boasting “high intensity” flavours.

“This well-rounded portfolio is designed to bring adult Canadians products that taste great and provide the consistent experience they need to enjoy responsibly,” said Scott Cooper, president and CEO of Truss Beverage Co.

According to market data compiled by Truss, beverages will appeal to Canadian consumers because they are discreet, odourless and contain a controlled dose.

“At Truss, we’ve built our brands by listening to consumers, so it was important to us to hear directly from Canadians about what they’re looking for from their cannabis consumption experience,” said Lori Hatcher, the head of marketing at Truss.

“This data shows just how ready Canadians are for a new cannabis experience that better fits their preferences and lifestyles. Quite frankly, it shows how game-changing cannabis beverages can be for consumers.”

While a peruse of the Ontario Cannabis Store shows no Truss products currently for sale, the company says products have begun to roll out and will continue to hit the market in the months ahead.
