Pure Sunfarms is taking it international for the first time this holiday season by having its brand included in a limited-edition Lane Crawford x Found CBD-infused gift set to be sold in the store’s holiday pop-up shops in Hong Kong.
The opportunity for the brand’s first-ever appearance is thanks to a partnership between Altum International Limited’s Found, Asia-Pacific’s first CBD retail platform and café that offer a range of coffees, biscuits, beer and fruit juices containing CBD, and luxury department store Lane Crawford. The pop-up shops will run from Nov. 13 through the end of December.
The goal of the co-branded holiday pop-up shops is to “educate consumers and elevate their awareness about CBD,” notes a statement from Pure Sunfarms.
The B.C.-based company has created gummies specifically with the Hong Kong consumer in mind. The luxury gift sets will also include some of the company’s other CBD-inspired items, such as chocolates, bath salts and tea bags.
“This is just the beginning of what’s to come for Pure Sunfarms as we look to share our love our plants and B.C.-grown cannabis products with the global cannabis market,” Mandesh Dosanjh, president and CEO of Pure Sunfarms, said in the statement.
While the company is looking wide, Fiachra Mullen, Altum’s chief marketing officer says there is particular excitement about presenting in the Asia-Pacific
“We believe that the leading cannabis brands in the Canadian market will hold a special place in the Hong Kong consumer’s heart,” Mullen says, adding that Hong Kong is “the most progressive cannabinoid jurisdiction in the region.”
Information from Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety notes that under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance (Cap. 134), “illicit import of cannabis or any products that contain controlled cannabinoids (such as THC) constitutes a criminal offence. CBD is not a dangerous drug controlled under Cap. 134.
As for pharmaceutical products containing CBD, but not any dangerous drugs, these “products must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board in accordance with the requirements under the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance (Cap. 138) before it can be sold or distributed,” according to a statement from the Hong Kong government.
