A Toronto man has been charged in relation to a delivery service that was offering illicit cannabis products, reports MuskokaRegion.com.
The Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating the operation earlier this month. Officers allegedly observed the driver making several stops in the region on Feb. 1
After stopping the vehicle, police officers seized nearly $10,000 worth of illicit cannabis products, ranging from flower and vape pens to edibles and hash. They also confiscated $530 in cash, a collapsible baton and a cellphone.
Toronto resident Adrian Stein, 42, has been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Stein is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice in Huntsville, Ont. on Apr. 7.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cannabis delivery services are temporarily available in Ontario, but only for legal retailers.
Authorized cannabis stores are permitted to sell, deliver and offer curbside pick-up of cannabis and other items during regular business hours, according to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
