The Green Organic Dutchman Makes Australian Debut
Canadian cannabis firm The Green Organic Dutchman (TGOD) is celebrating its first medical cannabis shipment to Australia.
In September last year, TGOD inked a distribution agreement with LeafCann for Australian and New Zealand medical cannabis markets, where LeafCann will be the exclusive supplier of the company’s products in both countries.
While the first products were expected to be available to Australian patients by the end of the first quarter of this year, that didn’t eventuate for whatever reasons – and it’s not hard to think of a few.
In addition to challenges posed by the pandemic, anything related to cannabis tends to get bogged down by red tape.
Still, TGOD seems very happy with the way things have turned out.
“This shipment to Australia is an important milestone for TGOD as it marks our entry into the Asia-Pacific market” said TGOD’s Sean Bovingdon. “We remain laser-focused on execution as we chart the course for future growth, including opportunities in international markets.”
LeafCann CEO Elisabetta Faenza said the products will be available at “affordable prices” and notes TGOD’s organic focus provided a point of differentiation in the marketplace. It’s not clear at this time what products will be available, but it appears to be a range of oils.
“As shown by intensive stability studies conducted by LeafCann and TGOD, the TGOD oils are reliable in their consistency and maintain their cannabinoid content,” states The Green Organic Dutchman announcement.
TGOD is certified organic by Pro-Cert, one of North America’s organic certification bodies. TGOD says it is one of the only licensed producers in Canada offering an entire portfolio of certified organically grown products. Using only natural inputs for fertilising and pest control, the firm says its practices maintain a symbiotic relationship between its cannabis plants and their environment.
Among its practices is Integrated Pest Control Management, where beneficial insects are used to protect crops from invasive pests of cannabis.
The company’s cultivation facility is located in Ancaster, Ontario. The 166,000 sq. ft. operation is capable of producing 17,500 kg of high-quality organic cannabis annually.
