HYTN earns cannabis cultivation license
This license amendment assists with solidifying HYTN's regulatory approvals which include a standard processing license, a research license and an amendment for sale of cannabis.
HYTN Innovations Inc. says its wholly owned subsidiary, HYTN Cannabis Inc., has received a license amendment from Health Canada allowing for the cultivation of cannabis.
This license amendment assists with solidifying HYTN’s regulatory approvals which include a standard processing license, a research license and an amendment for sale of cannabis to provincially and territorially authorized retailers.
“While sourcing dry flower and downstream cannabis form factors for our infused cannabis products, we have asked our suppliers to only provide inputs that meet HYTN’s exacting specifications,” said Jason Broome, HYTN chief operating officer in a statement.
Broome also said that finding inputs that meet industry standards has been challenging, but that they have managed to find within that challenge the opportunity to advance the company’s mission by leveraging more control over the very beginning of the cultivation process.
With the new license, Broome said the company plans to partner with Okanagan-based cannabis breeders to create a library of reputable cultivars and to micro-propagate their respective cultures. The company will hold the tissue culture at its Kelowna facility and provide its partners with hand-selected monocultures which they can grow to flower, harvest and cure them under the company’s quality management system.
