Want to Start A CBD Company? Follow These Steps to Improve Your Quality

Never in my life did I expect to become an entrepreneur. For more than 20 years, I worked as a licensed compounding pharmacist. But in 2013, everything changed. I learned about CBD when I was introduced to it by my friend and talented entrepreneur, Arby Barroso, who struggled with health issues. He thought CBD could help, so I started making simple CBD oils and topicals for Arby and my friends and family.

I was thrilled to see how much health and happiness it brought to their lives. It was incredibly fulfilling to use my expertise to create products from scratch and then see their impact. As word of mouth spread, I knew I had to leave my previous career behind and launch Green Roads.

Future-proofing Your Cultivation Business

The first few years of a new cannabis market are usually the most lucrative for a cultivation business. Typically, there is great demand and limited supply. New medical markets are met with a growing patient base, while throngs of customers line the sidewalks outside of adult-use dispensaries. In both scenarios, cultivation businesses that launch quickly enjoy early market share and high price points.

A Slow Burn: The Cannabis Sector May be Ready for Market Consolidation

The first half of 2020 saw a significant decline in M&A activity as capital markets were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the second half of the year saw a surge in M&A activity that is expected to continue into 2021. One industry that may be particularly well primed for M&A activity in 2021 is the cannabis industry, where market consolidation is already underway.

Copycat pot edibles that look like candy are poisoning kids, doctors say Social Sharing

Dr. Jane Pegg couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the pot edibles that had poisoned a two-year-old who had been rushed to the emergency room in October.

"It so shocked and appalled me … the package looked almost identical to gummies that are sold as candies in the store," the Nanaimo, B.C., pediatrician said.

The boy wasn't moving and was having trouble breathing.

His distraught mother had accidentally given him marijuana-laced gummies that contained a massive dose of THC — a psychoactive compound in cannabis — thinking it was candy.

The edibles belonged to the child's grandfather, who has arthritis, and are sold under the names "Stoney Patch" and "Stoner Patch."

You’ve Grown It, Now Own It: How to Master Drying & Curing Cannabis

Properly dried and cured cannabis flower buds burn evenly and have a smooth, rich taste. When smoked, the embers have an even glow and enter the body smoothly. When vaporized, there should be no apparent “green” taste.

If flower buds are dried too quickly, chlorophyll and other pigments, starch and nitrates or other fertilizer salts are trapped within plant tissue, making it burn unevenly and taste unpleasantly “green.” If buds are dried too slow, or not at all, they rot.

Gardeners can lose some or all of their crop to poor drying and curing cannabis techniques. Here’s how to do it right:

A billion grams of unsold legal pot may spell further woes for the industry

There's a billion grams of cannabis stuck in vaults across Canada. The billion dollar question now is: What do you do with all that legal pot?

Health Canada released industry-wide cannabis data for October earlier this week showing that about 1.1 million kilograms of cannabis are being stockpiled by producers nationwide.

That's an all-time high for the sector, following the second legal harvest of outdoor cannabis in Canada. That harvest pumped an additional 220,461 kilograms of legal pot into the market, up 67 per cent from the previous month.

It's a glut that continues to weigh heavily on the industry, possibly spelling further writedowns and facility closures in the months to come, analysts say.

Short answer: there’s not.

What the Best Hemp Manufacturers Have Learned from the Wine Industry

Any experienced wine aficionado can tell with one sip the geographic area where the grapes used to create a wine were grown. Wine inherits characteristics from the soil where the grapes were grown, the climate of the site that produced it, and the practices of the winemaker. The educated palate can detect subtle nuances, fragrant notes, or distinguishing flavors that serve as undeniable proof of a wine's region of origin. In the United States, we call these regions American Viticultural Areas (AVA). There are currently 252 AVAs in 33 states across the country.
