A picture is worth 1,000 words when it comes to cannabis.

A study of 870 Canadians between the ages of 16 and 30 at the University of Waterloo found that most participants reading edible labels still did not know whether the product contained a high or low level of THC.

Cannabis vapes coming to Alberta dispensaries this month

The Alberta government quietly informed cannabis retailers late Friday that vape cartridges will be available for order starting Monday.

The decision comes a little over one month after the province put a hold on releasing the cartridges, saying it wanted to review the safety of the products.

Cannabis vape cartridges are already legally available in other provinces and are easily obtainable on the black market, according to cannabis retailers.

Heather Holmen, communications manager for Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), confirmed an email went out to retailers Friday alerting them that the products would be on their weekly order forms starting Monday.

Three Reasons To Adopt AI Automation Technology In Your Grow Operation

The beauty of cannabis cultivation is in its complexity. Small adjustments to the growing environment can mean big payoffs come harvest time. It's a space for calculated creativity in order to get ideal yields under specific growing conditions.

Yet, tweaking the process until perfect means a lot of record-keeping, mathematical calculations, and analysis. All of these meticulous details are close to impossible to analyze without the introduction of automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into the grow room.

Canada's most-publicized cannabis industry scandals

The Canadian cannabis industry had a promising beginning, but the “Green Rush” has significantly slowed in recent months. Now, the industry is facing a long list of challenges: Lacklustre sales, a slow rollout of retail outlets, competition from the illicit market and waning enthusiasm among investors, to name a few.

But bad behaviour on the part of licensed cannabis cultivators has generated more interest across the country than any other problem. Some industry observers attribute contraventions of the Cannabis Act (which replaced the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations in 2018) and securities infractions to increasing pressure from consumers and investors. But some balk at that notion.

3 Canadian Pot Stocks Eyeing the Next Big Market: Germany

The discussion on the legal status of cannabis is one that has been thrown back and forth for decades but has only really started to become a credible debate in recent years. In 2013, Uruguay became the first country to fully legalize recreational cannabis, followed by Canada in 2018. Eleven US states have also legalized recreational cannabis, but it is the medicinal market making the most headway globally, presenting major opportunities for well-established cannabis companies in legal territories to capitalize on nascent markets in Asia, Europe, and beyond.

How Atlantic Canadian companies are tackling Cannabis 2.0

In the last week of January, a month after edibles arrived at the NSLC, the Clyde Street store was mostly bare of them. No chocolates, no gummies. The cases of THC-infused beverages were empty. There were three flavours of CBD-infused tea bags from Everie (from High Park) in stock, as well as a number of vape cartridges, including one from Reef (from Nova Scotia's Aqualitas). But that was about it.

That should change sooner rather than later, however.

In October 2018, just after the first round of cannabis legalization, Canadian cannabis companies immediately began working on what they knew was coming next: Cannabis 2.0, or, edibles.

Aurora plans to lay off 10% of staff amid profitability push

Aurora Cannabis Inc. plans to cut its workforce by about 10 per cent, the latest cannabis company to slash jobs in an effort to move toward profitability, according to a person directly familiar with the matter.

The company, which has approximately 3,400 staff across more than 20 countries around the world, is expected to announce the job cuts in the next few days, the person said. A significant amount of the job cuts will be earmarked for consultants that the company has hired on a contract basis, according to the person who declined to be named as they were not authorized to speak publicly.

“This is more of a lean out campaign after scaling up the company over the past few years,” the person said.

These 3 Pot Stocks Were Rocked in January, but Now They're Bargains

If you were a marijuana stock investor in 2019, chances are you couldn't wait for the year to end. Despite galloping to incredible gains during the first quarter, pot stocks spent the remaining nine months of the year in a precipitous downtrend. When the curtain closed on 2019, most cannabis stock were at or near their yearly, or multiyear, lows.

The good news is that 2020 began a little better for cannabis stocks. Through January, the Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences ETF, a basket fund with four dozen holdings of various weightings, fell just $0.01. That's improvement, considering how badly marijuana stocks had been pummeled of late.
