Denver cracks down on marijuana warehouses

Landon Riddle, 5, who has leukemia and uses medical marijuana to treat it, plays in a warehouse where medical caregivers grow marijuana in Denver. Riddle’s mother joined about a dozen activists and caregivers at the facility to discuss adjusting to a Denver City Council decision that bans caregivers from sharing space, which likely could close down warehouses such as this one.

The Denver Fire Department issued 58 permits for warehouses to grow marijuana in nonlicensed facilities last year – marijuana not to be sold in dispensaries. This marijuana was to be grown primarily by caregivers for consumption by medical users or for the grower’s personal use.

Randy Gregory: 'I blame myself' for failed NFL combine drug test

Randy Gregory, a top prospect in the '15 class, said he failed a drug test at the combine.

ATLANTA -- If the evaluation process were solely about talent, Randy Gregory almost certainly would be a top-10 pick in next month's NFL draft. There's little doubt about that.

But with the draft five weeks away, the former Nebraska star suddenly has another issue to address: He tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

Gregory revealed the positive test to NFL Media on Wednesday afternoon in an interview at his agent's home office in suburban Atlanta.

N.J. PTSD sufferers would qualify for medical marijuana under bill approved by Assembly

TRENTON — Post-traumatic stress disorder would be added to the list of illnesses that would qualify a person for New Jersey's medical marijuana program, and growers would be permitted to share excess cannabis with their competitors under legislation the state Assembly passed Thursday.

The Assembly also started a process to challenge rules the Christie administration created that dispensary owners say discourage people from participating in the medical marijuana program. Sponsors said the rules were not included in the law that was signed by former Gov. Jon Corzine just before Gov. Chris Christie took office in 2010.

Late last month, Republicans converged on D.C. to meet for CPAC—the annual Conservative Political Action Conference. Decades old and sponsored by the American Conservative Union, this event is a requirement for top Republican politicians. It is no surprise that the leading Republican presidential contenders made their way to the big stage.

This year, something odd happened on the way to the podium. Speakers were sprayed with an array of questions on a topic that was somewhat new to the conservative agenda: marijuana policy.

Study Alert: Negative Effect of Legal Access to Marijuana

Also, in his opinion, the Uruguayan law is better formulated compared to that of the Netherlands, since in the South American country the state regulates from production to marketing cannabis.

"Our results show that when a substance is legalized, people are more likely to consume and that can affect productivity," he told Efe this professor of Economics at the University of Maastricht.

Data were collected before and after implementation of a policy in 2011, which happened to allow only Germans, Belgians and Dutch could buy cannabis in the Dutch city of Maastricht.

"One of the effects we saw is that 5% was more likely to pass all courses," said the academic, compared to students of other nationalities in college, which became no legal access to marijuana.
