O'Leary cannabis shop will now be standalone store

Original plan included 10,000-square-foot mall.

What was going to be a strip mall in western P.E.I. is going to be a standalone store for the sale of marijuana.

The location for the store, on Main Street in O'Leary, was announced last month and has not changed.

"Our initial plan was we were pursuing constructing a mall in the town, a 10,000-square-foot mall," said Coun. Blake Adams, chair of the town council's development committee.

"We were planning on having the cannabis store as one of the tenants in that mall, which was a three-unit mall."

Significant economic impact

Seven ways to boost your cannabis flower's power

Some tips to help you get the most out of your weed and bring your cannabis costs down.

Whether you’re a medical or recreational cannabis user, things are getting pricey out there. A recent survey by Statistics Canada found Canadians on average pay less than $7 a gram for cannabis, but you’d be hard-pressed to find those kind of prices in storefront dispensaries in Toronto. It is far more likely to find strains that cost double that.

The results of the Stats Can survey suggests most Canadians are still purchasing cannabis from the black market to save money.

Senate could sit into summer to pass marijuana bills

'We will sit 'til it's done,' government Senate representative says.

The Trudeau government's representative in the Senate says the chamber will extend its session into the summer if that's what it takes to pass two new laws to regulate recreational cannabis use.

Sen. Peter Harder told CBC Radio's The House he's made it clear to his colleagues that bills C-45 and C-46 must be passed before the chamber breaks for the summer.

"We will sit 'til it's done," he said.

"We have an obligation as a Senate to deal with the legislation that's before us before we take a summer break."

Currently, both the primary legislation and the accompanying drug-impaired driving bill are before Senate committees.

US border officials won't say what could happen to Canadians who admit to consuming weed

Even though recreational cannabis will be fully legal in Canada in the coming months, there is still little clarity about what exactly Canadians crossing the U.S. border can expect after legalization is implemented.

It will still be illegal to bring any type of cannabis over the U.S. border because the substance will remain federally illegal there, however there are fears that Canadians who simply admit to consuming it at any point of their lives to U.S. border agents could be permanently barred entry into the U.S. or face other punitive measures.

How Quebec could allow Home-Growing marijuana?

Home-Growing marijuana – The inevitable legalization of recreational marijuana in Canada has been bringing up more questions than answers since the Federal Government first introduced Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act, in the House of Commons in April of 2017. The third and final reading of the Bill by the Senate is expected no later than June 7th 2018, with Canada-wide legalization on July 1st 2018 – but there could be a delay of up to 2-3 months before legal weed is actually available for consumers.

Recent quarterly results from Molson Coors Brewing Co. (TSX:TPX.A)(TSX:TPX.B)(NYSE:TAP) and Anheuser Busch Inbev NV (ADR) (NYSE:BUD) have indicated a continuation in the recent trend of a softer North American beer market. From ‘busted!’ in 1972 to today’s $1-billion profit forecast: A deeper look at Canada’s legal marijuana market

The marijuana market

Who’d have thought, in around 1972 when some of your school acquaintances may have been getting busted, that in 2018 we’d be talking about the outlook for EBITDA among producers and sellers of legal marijuana.

Even those who later ventured into financial services and accounting probably didn’t think they’d see the day when they were analyzing pot stocks and projecting earnings before interest taxes, depreciation and amortization.

(Just the word amortization might have made them giggle.)

But here we are, decades later, with Canada’s Liberal government aiming for legalization this summer, with a strong outlook for a new marijuana industry.

YouTube's cannabis content purge "a huge loss of cultural history"

Why videos focused on home cultivation and cannabis activism are disappearing from the platform.

‘This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated.’

Imagine seeing that frustrating prompt on videos you’ve hosted on your channel for several years, perhaps even a decade, without notice—or worse, that your channel and the hundreds of hours worth of video content you’ve uploaded have been completely removed.

It's a cold reality cannabis vloggers and content creators are facing as a recent crackdown on weed-related material slowly decimates channels while disappointing their subscribers.

Tory staffer fired for urging senators to delay final vote on pot legalization

Tory staffer urges senators to delay pot vote.

Senators are being encouraged to postpone a vote on a bill to legalize recreational cannabis by a now-former employee of the Conservative's chief critic of the legislation.

Sen. Claude Carignan said Friday he did not authorize Malcolm Armstrong, whom he'd hired on contract to advise him on the marijuana issue, to propose delaying the vote. The Conservative senator called the idea "crazy" and unrealistic.

The Dos and Don’ts of talking to your kids about pot

Breakthroughs in science and shifting viewpoints in the last decade have given cannabis room to grow as a safe, and practical plant that people can use in everyday life.

One thing that science is still showing however, is that like other psychoactive substances such as caffeine or alcohol, marijuana can have long-term impacts on memory, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking in the developing brain of an adolescent.

With Canada legalizing marijuana across the country this summer, there is some concern from parents who are worried about how to discuss cannabis with their children. The worry is that if the government says marijuana is okay, then my kids will think it’s safe for them to use. Recent studies however have shown that parents may not need to worry.
