Activist concerned Maritime marijuana tradition could lead to tobacco addictions

Nova Scotia activist doesn't want people to mix marijuana with tobacco if pot is legalized

With the expected legalization of pot, a Nova Scotia activist is concerned about a Maritime marijuana tradition spreading — smoking marijuana cigarettes cut with tobacco.

It's a practice Nova Scotia rapper Classified referenced in his song, The Maritimes.

"We always mix our tobacco with weed, it's the way we've always done it," Classified raps.

That song brings a smile to Chris Backer's face.

"For a lot of Maritimers financially, we have less money here. And a lot of people stretched [marijuana] out that way by mixing it with tobacco," said the vice-chair of Maritimers Unite for Medical Marijuana.

Fore Twenty Harvest Tournament Celebrates Legalization of Marijuana in Northwest

An amateur tournament is taking place today in southern Oregon, and even if the greens and fairways aren’t perfect, we can guarantee the grass is good.

Billed as a celebration of marijuana legalization in the Pacific Northwest, the second annual Fore Twenty Harvest Tournament at Cougar Canyon Golf Course is expected to draw scores of business owners and employees from the growing cannabis industry for a day of schmoozing on the links.

Aside from offering a chance to hobnob, the event also aims to dispel the widespread image of marijuana users as Spicoli-like slackers whose ambitions revolve largely around late-night snacks.

Impact of marijuana legalization in Colorado 'pretty grim'

When it comes to legalizing marijuana, Colorado has been blazing a trail for other jurisdictions to follow since 2012.

But Tom Gordon, director of the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (RMHIDTA) program, tells the Toronto Sun his federal government program has been studying the impact legalizing pot has had on the state and the results so far appear “pretty grim.”

Hillary Clinton joins Democratic rivals on rescheduling marijuana

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Hillary Rodham Clinton has long declined to endorse legalized medical or recreational marijuana at the federal level, but on Saturday, she added more specifics to her proposal to increase research into medical marijuana.

Clinton said that she supports removing marijuana from a list of Schedule I drugs, a classification that prevents federally-sponsored research into its effects. As a Schedule I drug, marijuana is classified among the most dangerous drugs that the federal Drug Enforcement Agency regulates.

“We haven’t done research, why? Because it’s considered a Schedule I drug,” Clinton said during a town hall meeting at Claflin University in South Carolina on Saturday. “I’d like to move it from Schedule I to Schedule II.”

The future of marijuana legalization

“Issue 3 was nothing more and nothing less than a business plan to seize control of the recreational marijuana market in Ohio”, Curt Steiner, director of Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies, said in election night remarks.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio called on the county to immediately address any issues that could disenfranchise voters.

“This Ohio vote has been sort of a side-show that no one else was either anxious about or excited about elsewhere in the country”, he said.

Inside the first-ever government-organized marijuana symposium

The number of conferences in the cannabis industry is almost on par with the ever-expanding music festival scene. With new conferences seemingly appearing on a weekly basis, deciding on the events worth the investment (money, time, bandwidth) can be difficult.

However, when a friend who works for the city and county of Denver’s Office of Marijuana Policy told me about a two-day symposium the city was holding for 420-situated regulators, I knew I had to attend.

Marijuana is literally the least of the nation’s drug worries, the police have announced

America's cops overwhelmingly do not see marijuana as a major threat to their communities, according to results of a survey released this week as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's "2015 National Drug Threat Assessment Summary."

The DEA asked a nationally representative sample of over 1,000 law enforcement agencies what they saw as their biggest drug threats. Marijuana came in at the bottom of the list, named by only 6 percent of survey respondents. The share of law enforcement agencies naming pot has been declining steadily since the mid-2000s, even as states have moved to legalize medical and recreational marijuana during that time period.

How to get started

If you are 'new' to selecting seed strains, we hope to de-mystify the process, making it clear and easy to select just the right one or ones you need (all seeds are not the same - no matter how closely they look on paper or on your screen!)

Getting Stoned VERSUS Medical benefits.

Many people only know (from experience, past college days or even hear-say) the 'getting high' or 'getting stoned' aspects of Cannabis / Marijuana.  Recreational users over the past five decades have concentrated on just one aspect - how much THC is in their 'grass' or 'Weed'?  In other words, how much potency it contains to get them stoned or high.
