Cannabis consumption is about to get a whole lot more convenient in Winnipeg, Man., with the coming launch of a new same-day cannabis delivery service.

Super Anytime is set to launch in the province in November or December to help Winnipegers avoid the harsh winter and still get their bud.

The app/website will work similar to food delivery apps, such as Uber Eats or Skip the Dishes, and will be available on iOS and Android.

While visiting the app/website, you select the cannabis product you would like that is available at retailers close by and check out at the retailer’s website. The delivery is then handled by a third-party of the retailer’s choosing, such as cannabis delivery service Pineapple Express, Canada Post or Purolator.

“What we’re trying to do is improve accessibility and consumer choice of cannabis so we can use this to feature the benefits to curb the black market and put the consumer dollars back into legitimate channels,” president and co-founder Ian Delves told the Winnipeg Sun.

Delves and co-founder/CEO Michael Kniazeff are no strangers to delivery apps. They also launched the alcohol delivery app Boozer in 2017, which is based in Toronto and has since expanded to Vancouver.

Delves told CTV the service is perfect for those suffering from injuries, those with mobility issues or disabilities, or customers looking to restock during a party.

Same-day cannabis delivery is also a great way for the legal market in Canada to compete with the black market, where a dealer is often all too happy to hand deliver some bud to your door.

While cannabis delivery services are rare now in Canada due to laws that limit online sales, the service is possible in Manitoba due to its laws that allow cannabis retailers to operate their own online sales.

Kniazeff said that Super Anytime is completely compliant with Manitoba’s laws.

To see the potential of cannabis delivery services, just look south to California. Delivery services such as Eaze are ubiquitous in the state, with huge billboards advertising it in L.A.

Canada has some way to go to catch up to that marketplace.

For now, there are few players. Pineapple Express is another one of them in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but it is only available via retailers that choose to work with them, whereas Super Anytime will work with a wide variety of retailers using different delivery services.

The Super Anytime founders will be looking to expand to other provinces if it proves to be working in Manitoba and laws loosen up.

“[We’re] looking at it as the first kind of domino,” Delves told CBC.
