Cannabis edibles are now available through the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) website.

NSLC spokesperson Beverley Ware said online sales began today, Monday, Jan. 6.

"It's very limited as to what we have available, but it does list all the products that we expect to be carrying over time," she told NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show.

The NSLC was allowed to start issuing purchase orders on December 16 and it had a limited supply of products by Dec. 23 at its 12 cannabis stores across the province.

"The most popular items have been the chocolates and the soft chews," Ware explained. "They had pretty much been sold out across the province by the time we closed Christmas Eve."

A second delivery arrived in stores late last week, which also quickly sold out and a third delivery is expected on shelves this week.

Baked products and topicals are not yet available. There are some teas, but Ware said a larger variety of drinks isn't expected for some time.

"We expected a very gradual introduction of products to the market, and that's exactly proving to be true," she said. "This product assortment is going to grow over time."

"It's going to be a while before this second phase gets fully ramped up, then we'll know what customers want and what we're able to reliably and consistently supply to them."

Four NSLCs are in HRM sell cannabis; on Portland St. in Dartmouth, Joseph Howe Dr. in Halifax, Downsview Plaza in Lower Sackville and the stand-alone store in the south end on Clyde Street

Before making an online purchase, Nova Scotians need an access code, which can be picked up by showing valid proof of age at any NSLC location in the province.
