Toronto-based Supreme Cannabis Company has signed a supply deal with Shoppers Drug Mart subsidiary, Medical Cannabis by Shoppers Inc.

Supreme Cannabis has several brands in its portfolio, including 7Acres, Blissco, and Sugarleaf. The supply deal, however, is focused on Truverra-branded medical cannabis products.

Truverra, which positions itself as a global medical cannabis company, was acquired by Supreme Cannabis last year.

“This is an important development that establishes Truverra as a valuable medical cannabis brand and provides further diversification of our revenue,” said Beena Goldenberg, CEO and president of Supreme Cannabis in a statement. “We are particularly pleased to introduce Truverra to Canadian patients, who will be able to order dried flower, pre-rolls and full-spectrum CBD oil. Included in our offering will be our Jean Guy strain, which is a tribute to the legendary variety offered by the Montreal Compassion Club.”

Medical consumers will be able to purchase products through Shoppers online platform. In addition to Truverra, the portal carries products from Aphria, Tilray, MedRelief, and others. Last month Alberta-based Atlas Growers also signed a supply deal for a line of smokeless products, including transdermal patches, gels, tinctures and capsules.

Shoppers is not licensed to sell cannabis products in its brick-and-mortar locations but ships nationally to medical consumers.

In July, the company announced they were partnering with Toronto’s University Health Network to study how medical cannabis impacts various ailments and conditions. “We need the evidence to help us in prescribing the appropriate validated product, at the right dose, for the right patient,” said Toronto General Hospital’s Dr. Hance Clarke, who is leading the research.
