The Roswell Daily News reports that Royce "Pancho" Maples failed to get reappointed by the Chaves County commissioners Thursday but does not believe the loss is related to his pro-marijuana stance.
Maples chaired the Roswell-Chaves County Extraterritorial Zoning Commission and voted earlier this month in favor of converting an old dairy processing plant near Roswell into a medical marijuana farm.
Chaves County has two other members on the ETZ commission and both were reappointed Thursday. They voted against the zoning change that would allow Pecos Valley Pharmaceuticals Inc. to establish a medical marijuana production facility.
