The recalled product consists of three lots of dried cannabis pre-rolls from Edmonton-based licensed producer, Atlas Growers Ltd. The affected pre-rolls were sold to licensed retailers in Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Alberta, as well as to patients who consume cannabis for medical purposes via Medical Cannabis by Shoppers Drug Mart.
The recalled products are lots P200027, P200044, P210008 of Natural History Zour Apples Full Flower Pre-Rolls, and lot P210008 of Atlas Growers Zour Apples Full Flower Pre-Rolls. The affected lots were packaged between November 2020 and January 2021.
“The affected product may contain yeast, mould and bacteria. In certain individuals, exposure to yeast, mould and bacteria can result in allergic symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, wheezing, runny nose or nasal congestion, and watery eyes or itchy eyes,” reads the warning as seen on the Government of Canada Recalls and Safety Alerts page.
“The use of, or exposure to a product containing yeast, mould and bacteria may cause temporary adverse health consequences, where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
Health Canada says that so far, neither the regulator nor Atlas Growers have received any consumer complaints or been informed of any adverse reactions regarding the recalled products.
An estimated 11,304 units of the recalled products were sold between December 1, 2020, and July 7, 2021.
“Consumers should immediately stop using this product,” the regulator advises.
“Consumers can return the product to the retailer where the product was purchased, or dispose of the product. The opened product should be disposed of safely and out of the reach of children and young persons.”
The warning also encourages Canadian consumers to report any health and safety complaints related to the recalled cannabis product or other cannabis products by completing an online complaint form.
