Five charged in cannabis bust

Please try again later.The Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit and North Bay OPP Crime Unit seized about 3,700 cannabis plants worth an estimated $3.7 million after executing a warrant at an industrial building Wednesday on Exeter Road in North Bay.
“As a result of the warrant being executed, police seized approximately 3,700 cannabis plants at various stages of growth as well as numerous drug-related paraphernalia,” OPP said in a media release.
Five people inside the building were arrested and charged.
Yihua Zheng, 58, of North Bay and Qui Yan, 33, of Markham was charged with cultivating cannabis plants at a place that is not their dwelling and fraud under $5,000.
Yung Chan, 52, of Markham, Bingkun Gao, 30, of Toronto and Ling You, 28, of Markham were charged with cultivating cannabis plants at a place that is not their dwelling .
All the accused have been scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on Dec. 14.
