Beeton’s newest business will officially open its doors on March 10, with a grand opening.

Cannabis Xpress, is located on Main Street in the heart of downtown Beeton.

Owner Chris Jones has a background in business and the cannabis industry. He decided to apply for licenses to open up retail stores in Ontario when the government announced the “first come first serve” process of obtaining a cannabis license.

Mr. Jones is also a professor at George Brown College where he teaches a class called Cannabis Business Strategy, and is also a professor at LIM College in New York where he teaches two undergraduate courses and one graduate level course on the Business of Cannabis Cultivation.

“I was already familiar with the rules and licensing people from working on a previous cannabis lottery deal,” Mr. Jones explained.

“I applied for the first license and got it very quickly, then raised $1 million and opened up five of the first 200 stores in the province. I’ve opened up and received licenses on 15-plus stores, so the process for me is pretty straightforward and easy. I’ve been able to open up a store from start to finish in a month.”

Choosing Beeton to open a store made sense as it is in-line with Mr. Jones’ business model.

“Most of my stores are in small- to medium-sized towns, and Beeton is a small town also near some of my other stores. I found an ideal location with low rent, downtown street-front signage, and it was in fantastic shape. After spending several weekends in the town and speaking to locals, I realized that it was a very underserved market for legal cannabis products and that they would welcome us if we opened.”

The store will have a wide selection of cannabis products and accessories.

This includes accessories like bongs, vapes, lighters, rolling papers, pipes and vaporizers. They also have fl ower, prerolls, edibles, topicals, tinctures, capsules, and extracts and concentrates.

“The most important part of what we sell is that we are the lowest priced store around, and since all stores buy from the OCS for the same price, we decided to sell our products for less than any nearby store.”

Cannabis Xpress is open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
