One of the Last Arguments Against Medical Marijuana Goes Up In Smoke

Campaigners against medical marijuana often say they fear that legalizing marijuana in any form will lead to higher teen marijuana abuse, but a new study shows that this concern is misplaced.

Published in The Lancet this month, the research saw scientists at Columbia University Medical Center look at survey data from an ongoing federally funded marijuana use-study, and in this case looked at over a million teenagers aged 12-18 through the period 1991 and 2014. The researchers then compared that to the laws governing marijuana use across the states incorporating data from non-medical marijuana states with the 21 U.S. states and the District of Columbia that had legalized medical marijuana use (now up to 23 states).
