California's biggest marijuana festival — the High Times Cannabis Cup — is ready to roll

The stage is set for High Times’ annual Northern California Medical Cannabis Cup, expected to draw several thousand attendees, and hundreds of exhibitors and speakers to the Cow Palace in Daly City Saturday and Sunday.

Doctors will be on-site doling out recommendations for the sedating botanical this weekend, and qualified patients will be allowed to ‘medicate’ on-site in a massive zone, as well as sample and purchase products from exactly 420 collectives and their brands.

California does not have full legalization, but it does have the world’s largest and loosest medical cannabis regime. One in 20 California adults (1.4 million people) are estimated to have used cannabis medicinally for a serious condition, and 92 percent of them report it worked.

California is also the cannabis cultivation capital of the U.S., with a decades-old home-grown movement that pollinated a global revolution.
