Eye on NY: Company seeking to grow medical marijuana in Wayne County partners with Canadian ...

One of Canada's top manufacturers of medical marijuana will lend its expertise to a company that is aiming to launch its growing operation in Wayne County. 

Compassionate Care Center of New York recently announced an exclusive partnership with MedReleaf, a firm based in Markham, Ontario. Through the arrangement, MedReleaf will dispatch a team of horticulture experts to CCCNY's proposed growing operation at a greenhouse in Newark. 

Angelo Fefekos, head of quality assurance for MedReleaf, will serve as chief compliance officer for CCCNY. Neil Closer, MedReleaf's CEO and a former executive at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, will be the chairman of CCCNY's board. 

Closer said CCCNY's team is one of the factors that led to the partnership. CCCNY's leadership includes Dr. Larry Good, former chief of gastroenterology at South Nassau Communities Hospital on Long Island and Jerald Politzer, former vice chairman of CVS Health Corporation.
