An op-ed about ResponibleOhio’s “cartel-like” marijuana-legalization initiative and other options for Ohioans

The unthinkable has happened. Telling me 10 years ago I’d stand opposed to legalization would have resulted in an involuntary rant outlining my love for marijuana, while my college buddies waited anxiously for their toke amidst a cloud of smoke like the one seen billowing from “Spicoli’s” van. In those years, if you were selling legalization, I was buying—no matter the cost. Luckily, my own experience in graduating from “tie-dye to suit and tie” have led me to understand that all legalization is not created equal. Which brings us back to the unthinkable: My standing hand in hand with prohibitionists against ResponsibleOhio‘s (RO) amendment to legalize marijuana. (It hurts even typing that.)

Initially it was a no-brainer; citizens in Ohio would be afforded the right to purchase and consume marijuana. However, after first read, the issue seemed unsettling. Confirmation of concern...
