MORRIS – An attempt to re-vote on the medical marijuana dispensary coming to Morris failed at Monday’s Morris City Council meeting, .

Third Ward Alderman Don Matteson requested the council reconsider the July 6 vote regarding a conditional use permit granted to Greenhouse Group LLC to operate a medical marijuana dispensary at 2400 W. Route 6. Second Ward Alderman Doug Hayse tried to second the motion.

But because it was not on the meeting agenda, it could not be voted on, according to state municipal code. Matteson then requested the matter be added to the agenda for the Aug. 3 meeting, but Morris City Attorney Scott Belt said the required timeframe had passed.

A request to reconsider the vote would have had to be formally made before the next City Council meeting after the original vote, which was Monday, Mayor Richard Kopczick said Tuesday.
