Medical marijuana training program coming to Albany

Schenectady County Community College is teaming up with Fiorello Pharmaceuticals to train students for careers in the medical marijuana industry.

Fiorello Pharmaceuticals is one of 43 companies competing for a license to produce and dispense medical marijuana in New York. The company is partnering with the two-year Schenectady, New York school to develop a medical cannabis certificate program that will begin this fall if Fiorello is one of the five companies to receive a state license.

The non-credit courses, funded in part by a $100,000 grant from Fiorello, will focus on the skills necessary for entry-level employment at Fiorello's production facility. Courses will train students in planting, growing and harvesting as well as the processing and packaging phases of medical marijuana production.
