Calling it "a scourge on our society," authorities in New York City have cracked down on synthetic marijuana, announcing on Wednesday the indictment of 10 suspects connected to a distribution ring that touches all five of the city's boroughs.

Authorities raided 80 locations connected to the illegal operation and brought in approximately 100 kilograms of synthetic compounds used to make the drug, also referred to as "K2" and "spice."
