Marijuana sparks changes to water business

The growth of the marijuana industry is sparking changes in the water business. Pueblo's Board of Water Works is making new rules to specifically address the influx of cannabis cultivators.

Grows keep popping up throughout the state, and in rural Pueblo County, many of them need to obtain water from somewhere else, like the Pueblo Board of Water Works. The board decided to make amendments before the demand becomes greater than the supply.

The Pueblo water dispensing station is a busy place. It is where customers who live outside city limits get their fill. Lately the lines have gotten longer and longer, held up by larger water haulers, some of which are delivering to marijuana growers.
