Jail for Portsmouth man found with suitcase full of cannabis at Edinburgh Airport

A brazen drug smuggler has been jailed after he was caught trying to fly into 
the UK with nothing but cannabis worth £110,000 in his suitcase.

Henry Alden, who is from Portsmouth, was stopped by Border Force officers as he stepped off a flight from Barcelona into Edinburgh Airport.

They searched the 20-year-old’s checked-in luggage and found nothing but 11 bags of herbal cannabis – weighing 12 kilos.

The only other belongings he had in his possession was a small plastic bag for hand luggage, containing clothes and a phone charger.

Alden, who had made several trips abroad in previous months, has now been jailed for three years and eight months.

A court heard he answered every question from officers of the National Crime Agency with ‘no comment’ but they discovered her flew to Spain from Luton just days earlier.
