The gate was padlocked closed but there was no wall or fence so we drove in and parked in the yard of the no-name hotel.

 
Our tongues were dragging on the cement floors as we hunted down the bar. The bar was closed and peeping through the window we saw a disappointing rack where bottles should be.
 
Our group of five included a nurse, a geologist, a scientist and an ecologist. Considering the collective intelligence it may seem odd that it took a while to sink in that we had apparently discovered a ghost hotel.
 
I have no real idea of where we were. Someone had told a friend who knew someone that there was rural lodge way off the main road near a town called Mapholaneng in Lesotho.
