Winter Garden's Knox Nursery approved as medical marijuana dispensery

The Florida Department of Health has approved Knox Nursery in Winter Garden as the medical marijuana dispensary of Central Florida.

The department on Nov. 23 released the names of five nurseries in Florida that have been approved as dispensing organizations of low-THC cannabis, or medical marijuana. The other four approved Florida nurseries include:

  • Hackney Nursery Co. — northwest region
  • Chestnut Hill Tree Farm LLC — northeast region
  • Alpha Foliage — southwest region
  • Costa Nursery Farms LLC — southeast region

These farms may cultivate and process low-THC medical marijuana, for use by people with severe epilepsy or advanced cancer, according to the department. The use of low-THC medical marijuana by patients with these conditions is legal under Charlotte's Web law, which permits the use of a single strain of weed that is low in the active ingredient that gets users high.
