Asheville man arrested on marijuana charges

ASHEVILLE - Police arrested an Asheville man on charges of possessing five baggies of marijuana for sale.

Christopher Antwai Brewster, 27, of Walton Street was also charged with resisting a pubic officer by giving a false name when served with an arrest warrant for a probation violation, according to warrants filed in the Buncombe County Magistrate's Court.

Brewster was being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility with bond set at $15,000.

In other arrests:

Nathaniel Paul Haney, 39, a homeless man in Asheville, originally from Hindman, Kentucky, was charged with assault on a female. Warrants state he punched a woman in the back of her head and in the middle of her back. He was also charged with injury to personal property, damaging a kitchen light and table. He was being held in the Buncombe County Detention Center with bond set at $7,500.
