Why Higher Levels of THC in Marijuana are Actually a Good Thing
Anyone who knows me has seen the frequent debates I get into regarding drug legalization. I think I have heard pretty much every argument under the sun for or against legalization.
One of my favorite scaremongering factoids used by anti-marijuana legalization activists is the fact that today's marijuana is more potent than marijuana in the past. The talking point is usually tossed out as "this is not your parents' pot."
In the second 2016 GOP debate, Carly Fiorina parroted these concerns when discussing Jeb Bush's run-ins with marijuana in the past.
"And the marijuana that kids are smoking today is not the same as the marijuana that Jeb Bush smoked 40 years ago."
The assumption is that because the THC levels in today's marijuana strains are higher than in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, it is therefore more dangerous and warrants more scrutiny when discussing legalization. Although on the surface this seems like...
