'You’re naive, stupid and useless at growing cannabis' says Judge

A BODGED cannabis farmer has been spared jail because he was useless at growing the crop.

Stephen Thompson was caught with 30 plants, a high powered lamp and an oil filled radiator hidden in the loft of his home in Liverpool Road, Penwortham.

The plants were riddled with mites and the lighting was so poor forensic scientists said the crop would not have survived to full maturity.

 

Recorder Craig Sephton, sentencing, told him: “You were naive, stupid and useless at growing cannabis.”

Preston Crown Court heard Thompson started growing the class B drug for his own use, to avoid having to get involved with drug dealers. He set up the farm after researching how to grow cannabis on the internet.

Thompson, 43, pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis.

Recorder Sephton said: “You were forthright enough to admit to the police it was your cannabis farm....
